To ensure that all appeals are resolved in a timely manner, the Board will convene Assessment Appeal hearings on Saturday, January 19 and Saturday January 26, 2008.  These additional dates will allow the Board to accommodate an increased caseload, and provide additional services to taxpayers who are not able to miss work and adjudicate their assessment appeals during regular business hours.  For tax year 2008, the Board has received the highest number of cases in recent years.

BRPAA Chairperson, Paul Strauss stressed that these Saturday hearings were an additional option for taxpayers. "We are sensitive that some members of the community in observance of their religious faith may not be able to participate in Saturday hearings", said Strauss.  At the January 10th public meeting, the Board announced it would continue automatically any Saturday case where the taxpayer has requested an alternate date.
